How It All Begin

It all begins with an idea. Hi! My name is Appril Hendrix-Buckle. I started my journey into the world of fashion in 1989 as a high school student. During my Junior year, I enrolled in basic sew construction, where my teacher (Mrs. Dickerson) would teach me the basics of sewing, designing and machine usage. I can still remember Mrs. Dickerson words….APRIL! ACCURACY ACCURACY ACCURACY! In her words meant, “stop rushing your work and be sure the quality is precise and correct! Mrs. Dickerson was my favorite teacher and I know her stern words was nothing but Love and Care. After High School. I would go on the Wayne State University where I studied Fashion in depth. After receiving my Bachelors of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandise, I caught hell landing work in this industry, so, after countless efforts and being turned down over and over, I decided to start my own company. I begin by designing for family, participating in various fashion shows and networking with others in the arts. I truly believe that this was my destiny in the first place, when all doors closed in my face, I never gave up, instead, I gave in to my dreams. I proud that I took the steps and invested in me and my family. I wanted my children to understand that if its something you REALLY want, you WILL find a way to make it happen! I tried to be a positive role model to my children and to this day my oldest daughter (Stacey Michelle) is an accountant and is working to start a business as a furniture designer. My middle child (Crystal Deanna) is a wonderful mother of 4, married, works as a Traveling Nurse and is also a Jewelry Designer, My youngest child (Alexander Adam) is a retired National Guard and Owns a Specialty Ice Cream Shop called Xcream’ in Austin, TX. And my husband (Alvin) continues to support us all as a great father figure and partner. YUP! WE ARE TRULY PROUD PARENTS…
